Introduction to The Sports Blog
I have always been interested in blogs because they give us little people a chance to express our views. Everyone likes to hear themselves speak — or in this case, see their words on a screen — and I am no exception. I have always been a bit verbose when writing and I tend to be a bit on the opinionated side as well. This is my first attempt at a blog and I have set my goals quite lofty. I hope to get at least one person to read a portion of something that I have written here. Wish me luck…
I decided to start a blog about a topic that can be very controversial , yet at the same time entertaining. I wanted something that people could be passionate about. Something that can bond perfect strangers and divide families, but at the end of the day doesn’t really matter in the overall scheme of things. That topic could only be sports. I recall hugging a total stranger at a game (yes - it was a guy too…) and just the other day I told a good friend that I would no longer discuss the NFL with him because he pulls for one of my “despised” teams. I never claimed to be a grown up and sports does bring out the best and worst in me.
The sport that I am most passionate about is NFL Football. I do have a favorite team, but I am going to try to avoid revealing that team. It will most likely come out in my writing, but I really do want to be unbiased (for the most part). I will try to write on other things as well, but my musings will generally revolve around the one sport for which I schedule my time to watch.
I would also like to invite anyone to join me in this blog quest. I am open to having any one join and I really would like to see people with different points of view and perspectives than I. My window on sports is very narrow and somewhat jaded. I will, however, maintain sole publishing discretion. This is not to discourage view points different than mine, quite the opposite. I will not tolerate anything vulgar, racist, or sexist however.
I love comments too. Even to say I am stupid. It is still attention. ![]()
Wow, you’re stupid. And you stole my theme. And you’re talking about sports. And you’re posting under a pseudonym, Mr. DSmith. How cliche. (How’s that for attention?
)
I’m glad to see you’re making the blog scene. Even though I’m not a big sports fan (except for rugby, rally cars, and GT racing), I do find your insights interesting. I look forward to reading your blog.
