Last Weeks Game Recap

I am kind of late getting this write up finished. I kind of slacked off during the holidays. It has been almost a week since the Steelers played and that is a long time for my memory to be honest. I did want to briefly post something even though the final game of the regular season is only a day away.

A win is a win, especially in the competitive NFL. The Steelers were in desperate need of a win and they were able to pull one out on the road against a team that was getting healthy and confident. Many people, myself included, predicted that the Rams may challenge for the NFC West crown this year. However, they got off to a dismal start, loosing 8 straight games to start the season. In their next 6 games however, they went 3-3 and seemed to be getting some of their explosiveness back on offense. While, this wasn’t the New England Patriots, they certainly weren’t a walk over either. > more <

RIP - Einstien 1992 - 2007

RIP Einstein 1992-2007

I just had to put one of the best dogs I have ever had to sleep. He was nearly 15 years old and had lived a good life. He had been battling arthritis for several years and it finally got to the point where he seemed to be in constant pain. Seeing his quality of life next to nothing, as well as the thought of finding him dead somewhere, prompted us to finally let go.

Einstein was the type of dog that made every one else want to have a dog. I am really a dog person and I absolutely love all dogs, but there are some dogs that are just different — a notch above the rest. In my extremely biased opinion, Einstein was one of these types of dogs. If we ever went places, we never had any trouble having someone watch him. They generally would take him to their place because he was such an easy going and friendly dog.

He was a Labrador mix and we got him in our first year of marriage. We did not have any kids and would not have kids for about 9 more years. He essentially became our child. He was a great puppy. His house training was nearly instantaneous. He always seemed happy and loved to wrestle. He soon learned all about Christmas, as we would always leave something under the tree for him. He soon learned how to open his own presents and you could see how excited he was for that.

Enough already about David Beckham

Filed under: General by dsmith @ 11:02 am on July 15, 2007.

Everywhere I turn lately, all I hear about is David Beckham coming to America. Instead of ignoring this over-saturation as I should, I decided to fan the flames a bit and add another world wide web reference to his name. A google seach currently returns 8,990,000. I hope to be 8,990,001.

Before you start thinking that this is an anti-soccer (or football as the rest of the world knows it) writing, it is not. It still amazes me that soccer is such a void here in the United States, while everywhere else on earth it is so popular. I have seen this passion first hand.

I was lucky enough to be in Argentina during the 1990 World Cup. > more <

Introduction to The Sports Blog

Filed under: General by dsmith @ 11:48 am on July 8, 2007.

I have always been interested in blogs because they give us little people a chance to express our views. Everyone likes to hear themselves speak — or in this case, see their words on a screen — and I am no exception. I have always been a bit verbose when writing and I tend to be a bit on the opinionated side as well. This is my first attempt at a blog and I have set my goals quite lofty. I hope to get at least one person to read a portion of something that I have written here. Wish me luck…

I decided to start a blog about a topic that can be very controversial , yet at the same time entertaining. I wanted something that people could be passionate about. Something that can bond perfect strangers and divide families, but at the end of the day doesn’t really matter in the overall scheme of things. That topic could only be sports. > more <
